The office syndrome

Do you spend more than 6 hours sitting at the computer?

The downtown pace, the pressure of daily deadlines and poor ergonomics build up straight into your muscles. Do not let a knot in your back hurt your performance or your night-time rest.

Understand it to solve it

What is a muscle knot, really?

It is an involuntary, sustained contraction of a muscle's fibers. When you hold a static posture for a long time (typing with raised shoulders, looking at your phone with a bent neck), a chain of events fires in the tissue:

  1. Localized ischemia

A muscle under constant tension compresses its own vessels. As blood flow drops, less oxygen and nutrients reach the muscle cells.

  2. Waste build-up

Without smooth circulation, toxins and lactic acid pool in the tissue and trigger a local inflammatory response.

  3. Trigger points

The fibers "knot" into hypersensitive nodules that hurt to the touch and often refer pain elsewhere (like a headache from the neck).

The pain map of office work

Neck and traps

From bending the neck toward poorly placed screens. Causes dizziness, heaviness and tension headaches.

Between the shoulder blades

Fatigue from holding the arms suspended while typing or using the mouse without proper support.

Lower back

Compression from hours in non-ergonomic chairs, weakening the core stabilizing muscles.

How we work

Our 4-phase protocol

To achieve real relief without causing micro-injuries, we respect the muscle's biological timing. Every session follows the same path, adjusted to your critical areas.

  1. Min 1-5

    Phase 1

    Hands-on assessment

A brief interview and a manual scan of the critical areas to locate the nodules and assess your current range of motion.

  2. Min 5-15

    Phase 2

    Heat therapy prep

Heat over the back (warm pads or hot stones): immediate vasodilation that softens the tissue and reduces the discomfort of the deep work.

  3. Min 15-45/75

    Phase 3

    Deep decompression

Firm, progressive pressure with knuckles, forearms and fingers over the adhesions, across the fiber, to stretch the tissue and release the fascia.

  4. Last 5 min

    Phase 4

    Assisted stretching

Passive stretches guided by the therapist to re-educate the posture of the released muscle and lock in the flexibility gained.

After the session

How to extend the relief when you go back to the office

Hydration, first of all

Deep work releases built-up toxins into the bloodstream. Drink at least 1 liter of water in the next two hours: it helps your kidneys filter them out and prevents that next-day fatigue feeling.

3 active breaks for your desk

30-second exercises to keep your traps and neck tension-free between massages.

Upper trapezius stretch

Sitting upright, gently bring your head toward one shoulder with your hand while you lower the opposite shoulder. 20 seconds per side.

Chin tuck

Looking straight ahead, push your chin back (like making a "double chin") without tilting your head. It aligns the cervical spine and unloads the base of the skull.

Chest opener

Clasp your hands behind your back, straighten your arms and open your chest looking gently up. It reverses the hunched typing posture.

Frequently asked questions

FAQs about the deep-tension massage

Is it normal to feel sore the day after the session?

Yes, it is completely normal: it is the post-massage soreness. Working old, rigid knots mobilizes the fibers deeply, much like an intense workout. It is temporary, eases within 24 to 48 hours and gives way to relief and muscular lightness.

What are the contraindications for this massage?

For safety, a deep-tension massage is not advised with fever, skin infections, suspected deep vein thrombosis, fractures or unhealed bone injuries, or during the first trimester of pregnancy (which requires specific prenatal massage with medical clearance). If in doubt, let us know before booking.

How often is this treatment recommended?

For office profiles under constant downtown stress, one session every 15 to 21 days is ideal for prevention and postural maintenance. For acute, severe knots that limit movement, we can set up an intensive plan of 2 sessions a week apart until the focus is cleared.
